Sacred Spaces Conservancy partners with congregations to help them steward their people, property, and purpose with wisdom and faith. Through practical assessments, curriculum, and strategic guidance, we help churches navigate change, strengthen sustainability, and ensure their sacred spaces continue to serve their mission for generations to come.
As broker at Barley and Barley, Tim believes in the power of place — from land and buildings to blocks and alleys. It’s the tradition in which he was raised in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, where his family has been ever since the Funk deed was issued by William Penn’s sons, Richard and Thomas. And it’s a passion he first pursued with the purchase and management of 12 apartments. Real estate investment became a side project when he moved to DC in 2003, then eventually a full-time career in residential real estate brokerage in 2010.
Tim has been involved in over 800 real estate transactions in D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. His energy, enthusiasm, and love for people make him a guide for buyers and sellers who offers rich vision and deep wisdom.
He enjoys raising his three boys with Erin on Capitol Hill.

Our Mission
We partner with congregations as they consider their long-term presence in the city, finding solutions that will preserve houses of worship to benefit all people for generations to come.
That our neighborhoods will remain anchored by sacred spaces that cultivate transcendent worship, serve their communities, and provide gathering places for all people.
We believe sacred spaces are more than bricks and mortar; they carry deep spiritual meaning that deserves care and reverence. We are committed to doing the right thing through ethical, transparent, and well-intentioned decisions, and we approach our work with a spirit of teamwork—collaborating closely with diverse congregations, communities, and traditions.
